Rude Mechs // Autobiographical Writing and Performance Workshop

The workshop will focus on autobiographical writing and performance. Participants will generate text, movement, and collaborative performances from scratch. Awaken your perceptions, road test your writing, and collaboratively create moments of spectacle to see what is alive in the room.

 

ABOUT ALEXANDRA BASSET
ALEXANDRA BASSIAKOU SHAW directs, writes and performs new work. She is a company member and Managing Director of Rude Mechs with whom she co-created and performs in Not Every Mountain (Guthrie Theater world premiere 2018, Fusebox Festival 2019), directs a solo performance by Kirk Lynn called The Cold Record (Fusebox Festival 2018, Under the Radar Festival 2019), and recently directed the award-winning Fixing Troilus and Cressida. She will be directing Rude Mechs’ Fixing Henry VIII in the fall.

Alex is a Lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas at Austin where she teaches directing and performance writing and serves as Associate Producing Artistic Director of the UTNT New Theatre festival. She is currently working on a new play called Decade of Skin. MFA Columbia University.
