Horizon Kids

Horizon Kids

Each Saturday, Festival Central will be taken over by little people and their families with workshops and activities for making, playing, dancing and singing.

With activities varying from clay making, musical instruments and family dance parties, Horizon Kids’ line-up of free activities is the perfect way to spend the weekend as a family. Here's a look into what's on:

Internationally awarded children’s songwriter, performer and comedienne, Nadia Sunde brings her own special magic to Horizon Festival as MC.

Family Dance Party // Get ready to bust a move with Common People Dance Project’s fun family dance party. You're invited to join host Neridah Waters on the dance floor so drop-in and learn a series of choreographed dance moves and bust out your own dance style as you groove to songs old and new in an upbeat celebration of music and movement that’s for everyone. Dress-ups are encouraged.

King St Music // Sing, drum, dance and improve cognitive function at the same time! Sensory exploration through musical play for children

Sunshine Coast Libraries // As part of the Queensland State Government initiative, Sunshine Coast Libraries are creating a pop up library to promote early literacy to parents and caregivers. Join the libraries for fun games, stories, songs and fun.

Syndicate Creative // A space for children to explore sensory development through play with clay, with basic instructions to create a pinch pot cup, and the freedom to let the imagination run wild, children are invited to join in our clay play workshop with host Bree-anne Jeffrey from Syndicate Creative.

Art Attack // Caloundra Regional Gallery’s Kids Art Attack is coming to Festival Central. Make yourself a nature crown then help gallery staff to build a box city! Two fun activities that will encourage children to make and create as well as work collaboratively together will be available. Craft a beautiful crown inspired from nature using a combination of new and natural materials then help gallery staff to create a box city. Children can make their own building or add to the collaborative structure as it morphs into a city.

How Long Can You Pong // It’s an Olympic sport and a family holiday favourite. Ping Pong – truly a sport for the masses. Get down to Festival Central each Saturday for some serious ball games fun. We’ll be mashing up some of the kids favourites to make sure all skill levels are catered for. How long can YOU pong??

Skip Till You Flip // Double Dutch, Elastics, Cluster Jump, Figure of 8, Texas Star – come show off your moves at Skip Till You Flip where you’ll be jumping rope to the coolest skip-hop sound track around.

Horizon Kids is a free event for which you do not need a ticket. You can register your interest to receive updates about the event and important information for your attendance.
